Microsoft warns of rising threat of trojans and malware
Microsoft's latest Security Intelligence Report has warned that the number of online threats arising from malicious software capable of harming computers is on the rise.
According to the report, malware and other malicious software rose 43 per cent in the first half of the year highlighting the need for having proper online security software.
In its Security Intelligence Report, Microsoft says more than nine out of ten of the vulnerabilities affected applications with trojan downloaders and droppers maintaining their position as the most prevalent malware threat globally.
Due to the vast number of people using Microsoft systems worldwide, cyber crooks concentrated their efforts on the system, the report noted.
To keep out the internet security threats, the global computer giant recommends frequently updating patches including those from third-party application providers.
In addition to having up-to-date antivirus and anti-spyware programs, internet users are also advised to ensure that their firewall is enabled and fully functional.
