Microsoft addresses security with launch of new browser
Software manufacturer Microsoft has added a number of security features to the launch of its new browser - Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).
The launch marks the company's first release since August 2006 and IE8 will benefit from a number of security improvements including increased protection against malware and phishing scams, as well as new ways to block bad scripts.
In addition, IE8 blocks ads from companies attempting to monitor an individual's internet activity - a practice known as behavioural targeting.
Furthermore, 'click-jacking' - the process of clicking on a button, when in actual fact an individual is activating an invisible, malicious script - has been addressed in this new release.
And in related news, Microsoft has also launched the beta version of its Silverlight 3 software - an alternative to Adobe's Flash - just four months after the release of Silverlight 2.
The company is aiming for a full release of the program some time later this year.
