Mashup technologies 'present new security risks'
The use of so-called mashup technologies will present a variety of new and potentially damaging internet security threats, it has been suggested.
Mashups incorporate a range of different media information and this data could require a new strategy for protecting data from online threats, John Hunt asserted recently when writing for the RegDeveloper website.
According to Mr Hunt, the use of mashup technology requires businesses to use more sophisticated techniques of identity authentication and authorisation because of the range of systems they entail.
Furthermore, the internet security expert is convinced that large firms will soon be using mashups more regularly and therefore paying more attention to the new kinds of internet security threats they present.
An explanation of the terms ushered in with the 'Web 2.0' from the Sixthings blog site suggested that by combining a number of web functionalities mashups can used to create "powerful web applications".
