Malware writers 'becoming organised criminals'
Malware writers are becoming better funded and more able to launch sophisticated attacks at PC users, an expert has asserted.
Tim Cooling, writing for his IT Consulting Blog, predicted that the next few years are likely to see an increase in the number of virus attacks hitting their machines as malware writers become well-funded and increasingly organised.
Furthermore, any website can now upload dangerous programs and spyware and malware are no longer restricted to seedier websites alone, he continued.
It can be hard to be aware of every online threat, Mr Cooling continued, so users must ensure their computers are protected.
"By taking practical steps you can be prepared to face new cyber-threats with the confidence that your computer systems are not easy pickings for malware, malicious hackers, or identity thieves," he concluded.
Get Safe Online suggests that Britons are increasingly at risk of identity theft and other online threats as broadband take-up continues to rise.
