Malware laden messages increasing
The need to have proper internet security software has been highlighted once more with the revelations that malware laden messages now make up a staggering 78 per cent of global email volumes.
In a rather worrying trend, the number of messages that contain malicious links or attachments that can cause online security issues for many is increasing, according to latest figures from security firm Symantec.
In its monthly State of Spam report, the firm states that rogue messages have increased since the year started and it estimates that 1.2 per cent of all email messages sent contains some form of malicious code.
And just weeks after SecureWorks ranked it second among countries from which most cyber attacks were attempted from, the spam report states that China was the most popular origin for spam messages.
The Republic of South Korea, the US, Thailand and Vietnam also contributed to the messages, most of which were generic Trojan, downloader and information stealing applications.
