Malware 'a never-ending battle'
Constant vigilance and reassessment are required by those hoping to protect their machines from malware, it has been claimed.
According to TechNewsWorld.com, malware proliferators are constantly seeking out new ways to attack systems - meaning that potential victims must be equally as active in blocking off potential inroads.
Gordron Haff, principal IT adviser at research-based insight and advisory services firm Illuminata, states: "It's basically an ongoing war.
"There's no such thing as being able to maintain perfect security."
Mr Haff adds that, while spyware, malware and viruses may have originated from young programmers "having a good time", increasingly such malicious software is now part of organised fraud operations.
Meanwhile, eweek.com reports recommendations from Google that those with IT concerns protect themselves against "socially generated spam and virus attacks" in the year ahead.
Social engineering techniques involve trying to circumvent security measures put in place on a system by tricking the user into divulging data.
