Macs not immune to viruses
Mac users are not immune from viruses and should be as careful as PC users when opening emails and downloading videos, it has been claimed.
According to industry expert Graham Cluley, people with Macs need to grow up and heed the warnings that have been aimed at PC users for years.
He claimed that Mac malware is being actively distributed by cybercriminals and over the past few months there has been a marked increase in activity.
Mr Cluley said that Mac users are now being targeted in exactly the same way as their PC counterparts, with infectious software often posted on websites posing as a legitimate download or video.
According to the IT expert, the mindset of computer users tends to be "yes, I know there are lots of viruses out there but maybe this time it really is a nude movie of Christina Aguilera that I've found on this website".
Meanwhile, two new Mac Trojan and worm attacks have been discovered by anti-virus software developers.
