Mac users warned to beware of cyber attacks
Macintosh PC users have been warned that hackers are targeting their computers and they are at risk of being exposed to online threats.
As a result, Carole Theriault, a senior security consultant at Sophos is urging the users to be vigilant and ensure they have proper internet security to keep out any online threats.
She said: "In the last 12 months we have seen growing evidence that cybercriminals - although still focusing in the main on the Microsoft platform - have shown an increase in interest in seeing if there is an opportunity to hack into Mac computers for financial gain."
Machines running Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 are particularly at risk of attack, according to Antivirus firm SecureMac, reports Data Storage Today.
The company claims to have unearthed multiple variants of a trojan horse which operates invisibly behind the scenes and grants cyber criminals complete remote access to computers.
