Jonathan Ross mistakenly publishes personal email on Twitter
One of the best paid media personalities in the UK has reignited the issue of online privacy and internet security on micro-blogging site Twitter by mistakenly publishing his email address.
It has been assumed BBC presenter Jonathan Ross was sending a private message to a friend when he accidentally published his full email address on the site, letting his thousands of followers see the information.
Reacting to the incident, online security expert Graham Cluley of Sophos said it underlines one of the main concerns surrounding Twitter and even though Mr Ross deleted the information it could still be obtained.
"By the time I looked for his accidental tweet he had already 'deleted' it," he explained, adding that "a quick hunt using Twitter's advanced search facility found it in a matter of seconds".
"This is a serious security problem," he added, stating that accidental information will always be put on the site hence Twitter should make it impossible for someone to find the information later by completely deleting it.
Several internet security issues concerning the site have been raised in the last few months such as the hacking of an account belonging to an employee with administrative rights, which left high-profile members exposed.
