Internet users warned of Yahoo's HotJobs vulnerability
An online security expert has warned that vulnerability on a Yahoo website is exposing internet users' data to online threats.
Netcraft has warned that its toolbar community has detected vulnerability on Yahoo's HotJobs site, which the company says is currently being exploited by hackers to steal authentication cookies.
According to Netcraft, the hackers have set up the stolen data to be redirected to a website under the control of a remote attacker. Once the data is obtained, the cyber crook can access compromised accounts.
"The script steals the authentication cookies that are sent for the yahoo.com domain and passes them to a different website in the United States, where the attacker is harvesting stolen authentication details," states the firm.
"When websites use cookies to handle authenticated sessions, it is extremely important to protect the cookie values and ensure they are not seen by other parties."
According to the website, Yahoo has been notified of the vulnerability, which comes after a similar flaw was detected earlier in the year on another Yahoo website.
