Internet security experts expect more cases like Monster
Internet security experts have warned businesses to expect more cases of stolen data similar to that experienced by monster.com unless they quickly change their stance on online security.
According to a report on internetnews.com, experts believe that the internet security landscape has changed and that businesses now have to adapt to avoid being exploited.
Imperva chief security strategist Brian Contos explained that some companies are still rooted it the past.
"When most organisations talk about security, they're talking about network security, which is five years out of date," he told the news provider.
"Attackers are focusing on data, not the technology. You now need to look at how people are interacting with the data, how much data was downloaded over a period of time, what time of day they accessed the data, whether it's anomalistic.
"You need prevention, detection and rapid response capabilities because ultimately you need to respond."
New US president Barack Obama recently outlined internet security as one of his main priorities in a statement on homeland security.
