Indian seminar to counter 'growing threat'
India's Uttar Pradesh Police Force is running a seminar this week which seeks to spread awareness of the growing cybercrime threat to local PC users and businesses, it has been reported.
According local news resource the Daily News & Analysis (DNA), around 150 delegates from different organisations across India will attend the seminar in order to spread awareness that there is an increasing security threat to the nation's PCs.
The police deputy-inspector general Kamal Saxena told the DNA that the aim of the seminar is to help more people understand the various risks they face when they go online.
India's Economic Times reported yesterday that internet security issues are increasing at an "extraordinary rate".
"This year will also see a rise in spyware and rougeware threats to computer security, besides the general virus and worms problem," it predicted.
Furthermore, the news resource suggested a rise in malware designed to target mobile phones is likely as the technology behind them becomes more sophisticated.
