Indian security forces baffled by 16-year-old hacker
Police in Ahmedabad India are trying to unravel how a 16-year-old computer whiz kid became the centre of an online payment scam on eBay.
According to a senior crime branch official involved with the case, three other individuals were arrested in connection with the scam but the teenager known as Ajay, seems to be the brains behind the group.
He said: "His knowledge of the codes and payment gateways is as good as that of a professional hacker."
The adolescent has admitted his involvement in the scam and subsequently blamed his 'amateur' associates for the discovery of the group, according to the Times of India.
So content was Ajay with his secret life that enabled him to buy expensive designer clothing that he declared college education a waste of time saying "it was useless for earning money", it reported.
The paper reports the boy's parents were unaware of his activities.
Most scams such as Ajay's rely on ID theft to take place.
