Importance of maintaining PC health highlighted
For many people, their computer is an important tool for banking, entertainment and keeping in touch with friends, making it vital to protect it from virus attack, it has been suggested.
MSN India has urged PC users not to wait for a virus to delete their information and work but ensure their machine remains healthy.
It recommends users regularly scan their computers, install up-to-date anti-virus software and make sure the machine is protected by a firewall.
"Viruses can wreak havoc on computers. It is among the main causes of system crashes. Installing an anti-virus goes a long way in keeping your PC safe and secure," the web resource urged.
Those who use their PCs to keep in touch with friends and family face an additional threat if their machine becomes infected by malware.
Often, viruses will access the victim's address book and email themselves to the contacts listed, meaning family and acquaintances can become infected.
