Hannah Montana star's Twitter account hacked

The importance of proper online security practices such as having strong passwords has been highlighted once more by a hacking incident involving Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus.

Her Twitter account has been taken down after a hacker compromised the star's internet security by breaking into it and sending a number of offensive messages with poor spelling.

The incident comes in the wake of a recent security breach involving a Twitter user who happened to also have administrative rights on the micro blogging site's network.

A hacker who compromised the employee's account managed to gain access to other high profile users' accounts including Barack Obama and Britney Spears.

Commenting on this latest case, online security expert Graham Cluley of Sophos said: "It's great that Twitter took prompt action - but wouldn't it be good if Twitter did more to secure their growing millions of users?

"If they forced users to use more sensible passwords, for instance, that could make it harder for hackers to break in."
