Hackers throw pie at MSN page
Computer giant Microsoft has been left with pie on its face after a group hackers calling themselves 'Peace Crew' compromised the internet security of MSN New Zealand.
The hackers defaced the website with a message announcing the site has been hacked alongside an image of Bill Gates with pie on his face, which was taken after he was hit with pie in 1998.
As of this morning (April 21st) visitors to the MSN New Zealand website were being redirected to a page featuring the Microsoft founder.
"We are aware that some MSN New Zealand users are being served with a foreign image when visiting www.msn.co.nz today," confirmed MSN country manager Liz Fraser.
"The cause of this discrepancy has been identified and we are currently working with our Microsoft technology and security teams in the US to resolve the matter as quickly as possible today."
Among the organisations whose online security has previously been affected by this group of hackers are Harvard University, the NBA, NATO and US military sites among others.
