Hackers target White House network
Chinese cyber crooks have reportedly managed to compromise the online security of the White House computer network on and accessed government emails, it has been reported.
On several occasions, the hackers are said to have managed to penetrate the system for brief periods but their actions were routinely thwarted by IT experts, who sealed the loopholes, the Financial Times reports.
The revelation was made to the newspaper by a senior US official who admitted that the security breaches allowed the cyber crooks to steal some information.
"We are getting very targeted Chinese attacks so it stretches credulity that these are not directed by government-related organisations," the official told the FT.
"For a short period of time, they successfully breach a wall, and then you rebuild the wall
it is not as if they have continued access," he added. "It is constant cat and mouse on this stuff."
In September, France launched an attack against Chinese hackers, whom it accused of attacking French government computers. The UK and Germany have also complained about the issue before.
