Hackers target security vendors
A new trend is emerging as a group of hackers targets internet security providers in a bid to highlight what they claim to be security vulnerabilities on their own websites.
Last week, the group claimed to have compromised a US website belonging to Kaspersky Lab by posting details on the hackersblog.org website stating that SQL injection attacks cold be carried out on the site.
Now a new claim has appeared on the same website and this time security vendor BitDefender seems to be the victim.
According to the hackers, they were able to have access to customer details by compromising a Portuguese website that has links to the firm using an SQL injection attack.
In the blog posting, the hackers also claim to have discovered SQL injection vulnerabilities and cross site scripting affecting F-Secure, though they add it "doesn't leak sensitive data".
While highlighting the breach on Kaspersky, the hackers claimed that their main desire was to "point our fingers to big websites with security problems".
