Hackers put Indian authorities on receiving end
Hackers have reportedly taunted cyber crime fighters in India by defacing the website of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), the Times of India reports.
The crooks are reported to have compromised the online security of the CID website, which is home to a cyber crime unit, by leaving abusive messages on the website.
This incident is related to ongoing cyber warfare between Indian and Pakistani hackers, who are engaging in retaliatory attacks against each other involving defacing government-run websites in both countries.
"We have blocked the URL, efforts are on to restore the information and track the hackers," director general of police AK Khan is quoted by the newspaper as saying.
"People have to bear the inconvenience till we restore information on the website."
Earlier in the week, several government-run websites on both sides of the border including India's oil and gas major ONGC and its Pakistani counterpart OGRA were defaced by the cyber crooks.
