Hackers' crime platform to close down
Thousands of phishers, hackers and credit card cyber crooks have been left distraught following the closure of a notorious computer crime platform, reports say.
According to Wired.com, computer crime supersite DarkMarket.ws' operations were brought to an end earlier in the week when the site's operator announced the forum was to be closed due to pressure from law enforcement agencies.
The move comes in the wake of last week's arrest of an individual going by the name Cha0 in the forum, a Turkish hacker that doubled up as one of the website's administrators.
"[R]ecent events have proven that even in our best efforts to expel and deactivate the accounts of suspected LE [law enforcement], reporters, and security agents, it is obvious that we haven't been entirely successful," the operator announced.
The site, which has reportedly been in operation for almost three years, is one of the premier ports of call for hackers to exchange everything from stolen identities and credit card data to electronic banking logins among others.
