Hackers colour Beijing Olympic Games website orange
Online security issues have been raised following revelations that hackers have reportedly hacked into the official website of the Beijing Olympic Games, reports say.
Part of the website's graphics were reportedly changed to orange as means of criticising China over its human rights abuses on behalf of campaigner The Color Orange, according to the Australian Associated Press.
According to Danish human rights activist and artist Jens Galschiot, who is behind the campaign, an anonymous call was made to him about the issue claiming the action was in support of the project.
"I was rather sceptical about the message but I've checked the website
actually the headlines are orange," he said in a statement on his website. "But I dare not say whether hackers or a humanitarian-minded web designer are the originators.
"These hackers must be exceptionally skillful if they have managed to make this small but very powerful change of the official Olympic Games websites."
Chinese authorities are very strict about internet access in the country and access to some websites is not possible, even with the Olympic Games in town.
