Hacker claims iPhone has privacy issues
In a revelation likely to cause concern over online privacy, a renowned iPhone hacker has claimed that the device records screen shots of everything a user does.
In a webcast demonstrating how to bypass the iPhone's passcode lock, Jonathan Zdziarski a data-forensics expert claimed the recorded images could be accessed by forensic experts or worse - hackers.
"There's no way to prevent it," Zdziarski stated during the demonstration. "I'm kind of divided on it. I hope Apple fixes it because it's a significant privacy leak, but at the same time it's been useful for investigating criminals.
"This flaw can only be exploited by somebody with physical access to a device, but your phone could get into the hands of someone with more malicious intent. Obviously, you don't want to trust any of your data to a passcode."
According to Zdziarski, the handsets record every latest action, be it sending a text message or calling.
The head of the FBI's Cyber Division James Finch recently claimed that many individuals just "don't have the level of knowledge" required to keep them safe from cyber crooks.
