Mac OS X and Linux users who download the early-version builds of the Google Chrome browser could find themselves vulnerable to online threats.
Writing on its Chromium blog, Google warned that the new versions of its popular internet browser are for developers only.
It advised consumers and businesses against using the software, which currently contains several bugs in the browser backend and no way of changing privacy settings.
"Please don't download them," the internet giant stated, "unless of course you are a developer or take great pleasure in incomplete, unpredictable, and potentially crashing software."
Google stated that the Mac and Linux builds of Chrome are currently unable to view YouTube videos, change default search engines or print.
Last week, Google published a list of the worst malware sites on the web and warned that cyber attacks are on the rise.
The latest report from the search engine provider suggested that the top-ten malware sites have compromised more than 10,000 legitimate websites.
