Google to tackle malware advertising
Google is set to help tackle the growing threat of malware and viruses transmitted via its advertising tools.
The firm has created an anti-malvertising website, which will help both residential and business internet users make a more informed decision about their internet security including the installation of anti-virus software.
"Our team's mission is to prevent malvertising in Google and partner ad properties. As part of our outreach work to benefit the online advertising industry as a whole, we've designed the educational materials on this site to be relevant to all web publishers, ad operations teams and internet users," Google said.
According to research by Kaspersky Security Netowrk, 45,857 unique malicious advertising and unwanted programs were detected on users computers in March 2009.
Meanwhile, the chief technical officer of Finjan Yuval Ben-Itzhak said that with the automation of malicious software distribution on the internet, increasing levels of malware in advertising and detected on people's PCs is inevitable.
