Google responds to Chrome vulnerabilities

Following the exposure of critical vulnerabilities in its brand new browser Chrome, Google has issued security patches, reports say.

The news was announced in a Chrome support forum, where it was stated that the patches are aimed at fixing the ":%" error, JavaScript trouble on Facebook and confirmed security vulnerabilities, according to Computer World.

According to the website, an individual identified as Simon stated: "We've released an update to Google Chrome that fixes many of the issues reported here."

While highlighting the vulnerabilities earlier, a researcher at Hanoi University of Technology-based Bach Khoa Internetwork Security (BKIS) stated that the new browser contained a bug that hackers could use to hijack computers.

"To exploit the vulnerability, a hacker might construct a specially-crafted Web page, which contains malicious code," stated BKIS.

"[The hacker would] then trick users into visiting his site and convince them to save this page. Right after that, the code would be executed, giving him the privilege to make use of the affected system."
