Google put on receiving end as hackers take over domain name
Cyber crooks are reported to have put Google Morocco on the receiving end for a few hours after compromising the internet security of the search engine and taking over its domain name.
This has been reported by Tech Crunch, which has said the incident took place on May 9th but the company was able to wrestle control back from the crooks and the site is now working normally.
According to the website, several users brought the matter to its attention and some were able to take screen shots of the site the domain name was leading to before the situation was rectified.
The crooks are said to have breached the online security of NIC.ma, which controls the domain name system for Morocco, and specifically went for Google's domain name.
Google has been subjected to such an attack before including one in 2007, which took place just after the firm had announced it treated online security very seriously.
