Global IT security brotherhood launched
The development and expansion of internet security threats over the last few years have prompted the creation of a global consortium to spearhead innovation efforts in security.
The Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI), which is a non-profit organisation aimed at improving and expanding security responses is the brainchild of five leading IT vendors.
The five, Cisco, International Business Machines, Intel Corporation, Juniper Networks and Microsoft say ICASI would create the environment for global companies to proactively address security issues affecting governments, citizens and IT infrastructures.
David Goddard, vice president for security assurance at Cisco said: "We are confident that ICASI will promulgate more responsive and comprehensive processes and best practices that enhance the global security landscape and ultimately will better protect how our customers live, work and play."
ICASI is designed to respond to and ideally reduce the potential customer impact of global, multi-vendor online threats.
This will be enabled through enhancing customer security, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of multi-vendor threat resolution and providing leadership and innovation.
Calls for more cooperation between security forces and IT security experts were made early this week in North America.
