Gamers targeted by cyber crooks through phishing scam
X Box live gamers are being warned to be more vigilant as they have become the target of cyber crooks.
The gamers are being urged to watch out for a phishing attack which is reportedly spreading itself through the friends lists in gamers' inboxes.
Messages witch appear to be from 'friends' in users inboxes are instructing the gamers to log onto a website, which would give them 1,600 free Microsoft points, according to Gamesdog.co.uk.
"M2AF everybody go to loginxbox.tk I just got 1600 MS points Hurry though!! I think it is a limited time offer", the message reads.
Following the instruction will result in ending up on a bogus website, which requests personal information then spreads the scam to everyone on the new victims address book.
Users have been urged to notify their friends to change their passwords immediately if they encounter the message.
The news comes in the wake of warnings by security experts of an increase in phishing scams as the Olympic games gear up for take off.
