Former Pentagon hacker nabbed for fraud
A notorious Israeli hacker who escaped a jail term after breaking into the computers of the Pentagon has reportedly been arrested over allegations of financial fraud, reports say.
Ehud Tenenbaum, whose pseudonym is The Analyzer, has been arrested alongside three accomplices for stealing nearly two million dollars from ATMs in Canada and other countries, according to the Calgary Sun.
The 29-year-old hacker and his accomplices are accused of compromising the systems of a financial service firm, which authorities refused to name.
According to authorities, the three broke into the company's database, made pre-paid debit cards with falsely inflated values and proceeded to use them to steal money from ATMs in Canada and other countries.
Tenenbaum is remembered for breaking into unclassified NASA computers as well as the Pentagon, the Israeli parliament and Hamas among others while in his teens, says the Register.
He reportedly posted online threats with a combination of sniffer and trojan programs and took advantage of "well known - but often unpatched - vulnerabilities in Solaris", which was current then.
