Ford warns consumers not to fall for phishing scam
Motoring company Ford has warned consumers not to fall for an email scam that claims to be offering the new Ford Fusion Hybrid for a bargain price.
The rogue email, which could be used for phishing purposes, claims that the company has decided to offer the vehicle for $15,000 (£9,800), which is nearly half the $27,270 starting price of the car.
According to the crooks, "a statistic fall in sales" for the company has prompted the decision to offer 500 models at this "very low price", which is supposed to help Ford "bounce back".
However, Ford has warned consumers not to fall for the scam and distanced itself from the sender, saying: "We recommend people receiving the email delete it without opening the attachment".
Consumers should be able to see through the scam because the crooks appear not to have bothered carrying out any spell check and their grammar is wanting.
More than nine million people in the UK do not know how to spot phishing emails from cyber crooks, a recent report from Money.co.uk stated.
