England rugby team selection leaked by internet hacker
Rugby Football League (RFL) bosses in England have reacted with anger after confidential information regarding team selection for upcoming games was leaked online after being obtained by a hacker.
As is usually the case, the England team manager Tony Smith was expected to announce his 19-man squad for the game against France at a special press conference.
However, the wind was taken out of Smith's sails after it was revealed that an enterprising hacker had managed to get around the online security firewalls of the RFL computers and obtain the list of players.
Indeed, according to the manager, Huddersfield player Scott Moore learned that he had been called up to represent his country for the first time after stumbling across the information on an internet chat room.
"I'm upset that the players weren't the first to know," Smith said at the press conference.
"I think they deserve that. I hope we can trap whoever did it. That phone call to a player should be a great honour."
Last month, TV star Jonathan Ross mistakenly made public a private email after publishing it on the social networking site Twitter.
