E-crime 'continues to concern consumers'
Identity theft and fraud are ongoing e-crime concerns for consumers, it has been reported.
Sector commentator Ian Williams made his comments in a vnunet.com article, following the news that more than 500 delegates from businesses, governments and law agencies across the world will attend the e-Crime Congress 2008 in London this year.
The meeting is to be held in March and attendees will discuss online threats and electronic crime.
Mr Williams warned that as well as damaging consumer confidence, "last year saw an increasing number of attacks on the IT infrastructure of companies and governments".
Sharon Lemon, head of e-crime at the Serious Organised Crime Agency, told the news resource the event is important as it helps organisations from across the globe build e-crime-fighting partnerships.
The e-Crime Congress 2008 is designed for professionals in sectors such as IT security, risk and audit.
It reports that this year more than 35 heads and deputy heads of anti-e-crime agencies will attend.
