Digital photo frame 'has built-in virus'
An international consumer electronics retailer has admitted selling some digital photo frames which contained a virus.
It has warned that a "limited number" of the Insignia 10.4 inch frames were contaminated with a virus while they were being manufactured.
Potentially, any Windows operating system which has been connected to the frame could be infected.
The manufacturer stated: "This situation is not characteristic of Insignia products.
"We have launched an investigation and will take the actions necessary to help ensure that a situation like this is not repeated."
Insignia has suggested that computers with anti-virus software installed should safe from infection as the programme will delete any virus detected on the frame.
Cameras, flash drives and memory cards which have been connected to the frame cannot be infected by the virus, it reassured customers.
The firm has offered technical support to anyone affected by the problem.
Online resource eNews 2.0 reports that the company has not named the virus yet but says it is a non-replicating Trojan and not a worm.
