Cyber crooks launch Valentine's Day spam emails
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and as millions across the world prepare to express their love, cyber crooks are also preparing to show theirs - with online threats and malware.
Security experts are warning that a new Valentine's Day themed spam message whose origins are believed to be the same as those of the Waledac botnet or the new Storm botnet are doing the rounds online.
PandaLabs, Trend Micro and MX Logic have all reported to have spotted the internet security threat, which arrives in potential victim's inboxes bearing a message of love.
"Emails are short and sweet one liners with content like Me and You, In Your Arms, and With all my love followed by a website link," according to online security firm MX Logic.
However, clicking on the attached links, which appear as hxxp://goodnewsreview.com, hxxp://worldnewseye.com and hxxp://www.spacemynews.com among others, leads to a malicious file being downloaded on the computer.
Such holiday-related spam messages are not new and Christmas and New Year spam messages were also spotted in the run up to the last holiday season.
