According to the Associated Press, a "sneaky new attack" has been launched by cyber crooks that have created fake YouTube pages identical to the real thing in their bid to spread malware.
The pages have reportedly been created by the crooks using an online programme that enables them to create the rogue platforms, which arrive in users' inboxes in the form of a video link.
Following instructions in the links leads users to the fake page, which advices them to install a new software before viewing the video, an action that will lead to being infected by a virus.
Internet users are advised that YouTube pages don't require any software to be downloaded before a video can be viewed and should they encounter such a request they should not comply.
