Cyber crooks appeal to human emotion
Cyber crooks are able to succeed in their efforts to expose users to online threats such as ID theft and even stealing from bank accounts due to human weakness, online security experts say.
Most cyber crooks rely on the art of persuasion as many phishing scams highlight with their social engineering talents highlighted by their ability to make people give up their personal data.
According to security firm MacAfee's latest Security Journal, social engineering is the biggest security threat and the ever improving techniques coupled with the human element make this difficult to fight, reports itbusiness.ca.
Cyber crooks rely on appealing to people's emotions, fears and expectations and would not hesitate to use even the latest tragic events such as earthquakes and hurricanes to attack.
Recently it was reported that cyber crooks were using Google Trends to find out the latest and hottest topics, which they would then provide fake content for to improve their malware laden website rankings on search engines.
