Cyber crime fighters in unity move
A move to push for more partnership between internet security experts and law enforcers has been launched in Canada.
The move comes after revelations at the 20th annual conference of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (First) was warned the war against cyber crime was in danger of being lost, reports the Web wire.
The conference saw national law enforcement agencies accused of refusing to take up some cases involving cyber crime if thefts were of low value.
Internet security research firm Team Cymru's Levi Gundert, who previously worked for the Secret Service said the two sides have to learn from each other.
He said: "There is frustration on both sides on the law enforcers' side, about lack of resources and perceived lack of results
and on the security teams' side, about the information they supply seeming to go into a black hole."
"We are losing the war against cyber crime badly," he declared while calling for more collaboration.
First has now decided to launch a website to provide both sides with useful and instructional materials.
