Companies urged to utilise cloud computing host-based firewall
Organisations that have made a move to cloud computing are set to benefit from a new, free online security solution designed for securing virtual machines and cloud computing.
IT professionals are to be encouraged to adopt the free host-based firewall, which has been produced by Third Brigade a host intrusion, detection and prevention systems specialist.
According to the company, the Deep Security Firewall enables tighter security policy to be applied on systems that have moved from internal or private to external public computing clouds.
"Cloud computing gives laptop-like mobility to servers and bypasses perimeter security defences," said Bill McGee, vice president of products and services at Third Brigade.
"Third Brigade Deep Security enables our customers to take back control over cloud computing resources and maintain consistent security policy for virtual machines, allowing them to travel safely to and from external clouds."
Organisations have increasingly been embracing virtualised networks but online security experts warn that the networks have vulnerabilities.
