Chinese to share malware information
A Chinese firm has created a large database of malware found on Chinese websites and is set to share the information with other organisations.
Based in Beijing, KnownSec has gathered the virus and malware information using webcrawlers that scan up to two million websites every day.
Speaking at the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams in Kyoto, Japan, Zhao Wei, chief executive officer of the company, said the database holds information relating to more Chinese websites than any other.
The move is a significant one because recent research has shown that China currently hosts the majority of the world's malware.
KnownSec uncovers more than 100 Trojans a day, the company states, and the database has tens of thousands of viruses on it.
Earlier this week, China announced that it was delaying plans to introduce a new internet security filter, called Green Dam Youth Escort, on all new PCs sold in the country.
