Celebrity cook website hacked
Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson may be a 'domestic goddess' in the kitchen, but it would appear that her website is not up to scratch after it was hacked exposing visitors to malware.
The website was targeted by a an SQL attack on Monday July 14th, which installed malware on the site, including a Trojan.
It is the latest in a long line of legitimate websites to be targetted by criminals in recent months, as hackers change their tactics in order to increase exposure to their malicious code online.
Instead of attempting to redirect users to malicious websites, they instead exploit vulnerabilities in websites' back-end database scripting to infect PCs with software that steals their personal details. This is commonly known as a 'drive-by download'.
Eldar Tuvey, chief executive of ScanSafe, which detected the attack, said: "SQL injection attacks have become the most common form of website compromise, outpacing all other types by 212 per cent.
"High profile websites such as Nigella Lawson's must realise that they are becoming an appealing target for cyber-criminals."
Meanwhile, a new report from Gartner has suggested that the number of security services hosted by companies online will triple in the next five years, as the delivery model is accepted by more companies.
