BusinessWeek's website attacked by hackers
The website of one of the world's most famous magazines has reportedly been compromised by hackers and users risk being exposed to online threats, it has emerged.
Hundreds of pages on BusinessWeek's website have been infected using an SQL Injection attack, which involves exploiting security vulnerabilities to compromise a site's underlying database, according to internet security expert Sophos.
"Its worrying when any site suffers from a malicious SQL Injection attack, but when it's also one of the 1,000 busiest websites on the internet the stakes are even higher," said Graham Cluley of Sophos.
"The potentially large number of people visiting the site and accessing information to assist their careers may be putting their finances or personal data in jeopardy if they are not properly protected."
The affected pages are the ones offering information about where MBA students may find future employers.
According to internetnews.com, BusinessWeek played down the threat saying the malicious code had been taken down and they were "confident that our readers' personal information has not been compromised".
