Burger lovers targeted by phishing scam
Cyber crooks never fail to find targets for their ever increasing phishing scams which are designed to trick users into giving up their data, laying the road for ID theft and online fraud, it has emerged.
The latest target is McDonalds, whose customers are being targeted by a phishing scam in the form of a satisfaction survey, which is only a front for stealing information, warn online security experts.
With a cash incentive in place, which will be debited to the user's account later, users are tricked into giving up their personal data including full name, email address, credit card number and electronic signature.
According to Trend Micro, which says it has blocked the phishing site, this is not the first time a bogus survey has been used to phish for people's details.
"Surveys related to Wal-Mart, American Airlines, and even U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama were previously used to collect personal information from potential victims," says the firm.
According to Equifax, internet users should resort to calling organisations if they encounter a suspicious page, just to be safe.
