Britain 'needs dedicated cybercrime taskforce'
Britain requires the return of a dedicated taskforce to tackle the threats presented by cybercrime, an expert has suggested.
Bret Hartman, chief technical officer at security company RSA and former IT specialist with the National Security Agency, made his comments to online news resource silicon.com.
He likened the situation between online crooks and government authorities as an "arms race" and warned that law enforcement departments must have sufficient tools and knowledge to tackle the growing threat.
"There's no question that threats in that area will continue to grow. It's a cat and mouse game, you have to stay one step ahead of your adversary," Mr Hartman added.
According to silicon.com there have been many calls for the reinstatement of the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit since its merger with the Serious Organised Crime Agency.
The agency recently published a warning to British internet users, urging them to be wary of unsolicited emails and to ensure they are protected by the most up to date anti-virus software.
