A cyber crook has caused online security nightmares for many Australians after publishing details of their online accounts on a hacker's website, it has emerged.
The internet users, who only found out about the exposure after the Sydney Morning Herald made the revelation after stumbling across the website during its investigations into online fraud are incensed by the action.
According to the Herald the internet users are annoyed and worried too as the list of email addresses matched with user names and passwords now left them exposed to the risk of ID theft and financial fraud.
Many of those whose online presence was compromised by the cyber crook have said they will have to change their passwords and even online identities to minimise the risk of being hit.
According to the newspaper, the hacker going by the name of Farbod reportedly offered the 9,600 identities for free just to gain status and credibility on a website that rates hackers' skills.
