Attacks 'arising in 125 countries'
Internet security challenges have been identified arising from 125 different countries around the world in the first quarter of 2008, a new report reveals.
Akamai Technologies has released the first of its quarterly reports reviewing the State of the Internet and found that the origins of threats such as trojans, viruses and other malware are widespread.
China and the US were identified as the two nations whose developers of malicious software and other online attacks were most prolific, accounting for as much as 30 per cent of such traffic.
"The highest levels of attack traffic were targeted by worms, viruses, and bots that spread across the internet several years ago," the company reports.
Akamai Technologies is a rich media and enterprise applications provider which recently announced it was to participate in the Merrill Lynch Technology Conference 2008.
Meanwhile, the FBI has warned computer users not to be duped by recent scam emails claiming to be seeking support for victims of the Chinese earthquake of recent weeks.
