Anti-virus software is 'worth the cost'
There are a large number of free anti-virus software packages on the market.
However, businesses have been warned that cutting costs during the recession by opting for free anti-virus software could be a dangerous move.
According to the East Valley Tribune's Ken Colburn, it is also important you have protection in place to tackle viruses, Trojans and worms, as well as an up to date anti-spyware program.
He pointed out that while many businesses offer free versions of the software, they also often supply paid-for versions of the programs.
The free versions often have limited support and are often less up to date than their fully licensed counterparts, Mr Colburn added.
According to Peter Tippett, vice president of innovation and technology at Verizon Business, failing to protect your computer against viruses and malware is a big risk.
Malware is responsible for 38 per cent of all security breaches, Mr Tippett stated.
