Anti-spyware software 'is needed'
Anti-spyware software is of use even on the most well protected system, it has been claimed.
Writing for ITVoir, Satinder Kaur explains that infections can occur even with safeguards already in place.
"You need to keep a good firewall in place as well as email virus protection," the industry commentator suggests.
"But these two ways are not sufficient and any time these malicious viruses can get into your computer."
The article notes that anti-spyware software is widely available and can help with eliminating malicious infections from a computer system.
Such assistance can take place on demand by scanning files on the computer, or by offering real-time scanning of new data received from the internet.
Meanwhile, some of the warning signs identified by the author include a loss of internet access, changed home page or sluggish performance.
Previously, the Streamyx Streamyx blog warned that computers are spending much longer connected to the internet due to the popularity of always-on broadband connections.
This could result in an increased chance of malicious programs reaching the base unit, the blog post suggested.
