Alternative browser users urged to upgrade their systems
Most people only ever think about Internet Explorer (IE) and Firefox whenever internet security and online threats are mentioned but users of other browsers too are susceptible to attack.
Windows users of alternative browsers such as Safari, Google Chrome and Opera are being warned to ensure they take internet security just as seriously.
Opera is urging users of the system to take advantage of a "security and stability upgrade" that has been released to cater for vulnerabilities that can be exploited with the use of specially crafted jpeg images.
The upgrade that comes under Opera 9.64 for Windows is also designed to fix "an issue where plug-ins could be used to allow cross domain scripting" as well as preventing security data from being written to disk.
Microsoft routinely issues security patches and upgrades for its systems on the second Tuesday of every month, a day that is now widely referred to as "patch Tuesday".
