$1 million challenge to break privacy platform
An online security manufacturer has expressed so much confidence in a new privacy programme that it is offering over half a million pounds to anyone who can crack the encryption.
Christened Permanent Privacy, the new security solution from the company by the same name, uses AES encryption coupled with an extra layer of security, which the manufacturers say is unbreakable.
Peter White, managing director of Permanent Privacy, said: "The world of cryptography shuns and disparages outsiders, but Permanent Privacy is the real thing.
"You can now send emails and store data with 100 per cent security. Even the Pentagon cannot read your secrets if they do not have the keys."
The new solution has been verified by Peter Schweitzer, one of Harvard's top cryptanalysts.
Online privacy fears have been on the increase and security specialist Kaspersky Labs issued the latest warning, urging consumers to take precautions.
Meanwhile, Buffalo recently introduced a self-encrypting portable hard drive into the market.
