Specify the NetBIOS Name Resolution Mode (Windows 95/98/Me)

There are several modes used in the resolution of NetBIOS, including WINS and LMHOSTS lookups and broadcast queries. This setting controls which mode is used.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value called "NodeType" and set it to equal either 1, 2, 4, or 8 where 1 = b-node, 2 = p-node, 4 = m-node, and 8 = h-node. This value can also be specified using DHCP.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Value Name: NodeType
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: 1, 2, 4, or 8
